The Evaluation of Parental Capacity is distinct from and usually confused with the Evaluation of Child Custody. Within the context of Parental Capacity, the parent is assumed inadequate, and may have been criminally charged based on presenting evidence. Parental Capacity evaluations seek to determine the parent's functional capacity to parent the child(ren) in concert any presenting risk factors including medical illnesses, substances use, and/or major mental health disorders. Given Dr. Marshall's advanced acumen in this area, she is frequently retained to opine on matters of Parental Capacity, particularly with parents who are diagnosed with or presenting with symptoms indicative of Intellectual Disability or Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Dr. Marshall conducts evaluations for juvenile transfer/waiver and of adults who were sentenced to life as juveniles. Important points of focus include neuropsychological functioning as measured by discrepancies between chronological and developmental ages and the developmental immaturity of juveniles and young adults.
Dr. Marshall & her associates have advanced clinical and academic acumen in the conducting evaluations for Fitness for Duty (FFD) of Federal & State Employees and Evaluations of Impaired Professionals (State Mental Health Licensees). Additionally, Dr. Marshall conducts Neuropsychological Fitness for Duty (FFD) Evaluations.
